PercLIF stands for Percutaneous Lumbar Interlaminar Fusion – a novel minimally invasive surgical technique designed to reduce the approach-related morbidity as-sociated with traditional spinal fusion procedures. A one- inch incision is made laterally and a series of blunt dilators are used to create a portal to the spine, elimi-nating the need for dissection and retraction of the paraspinal muscles often required to insert traditional pedicle screws or other spinous process plates. The Spinal Simplicity technique was developed as an easily reproducible and minimally disruptive means of in-serting the Minuteman, the optimal posterior fixation/fusion device.
